Thorbjørn Olesen wins in Thailand

Thorbjørn Olesen secured his seventh DP World Tour title, cruising to a four shot victory in the Thailand Classic just weeks after re-signing with Galvin Green.

Starting the day two shots clear, Thorbjørn made birdies at the first, second and sixth to stretch his advantage early on at the Amata Spring CC in Bangkok, before three birdies on the spin from the 13th hole cemented his lead before finishing with a stunning bogey-free 66 to finish on 24-under par.

The win continues Olesen's record of converting 54-hole leads into victories on the DP World Tour, having done so 85% of the time (six out of seven) following this weekend’s victory.

“I said when I re-signed with Galvin Green that I wanted to take my career another step forward and wearing the high-tech clothing, I genuinely believe it provides me with an edge on the golf course, especially on the back nine on a Sunday when the pressure is on,” said Thorbjørn.

The victory catapults the 34-year-old Dane into the top-100 on the Official World Golf Rankings, and into 5th place in the DP World Tour Race to Dubai list. In four starts this year, including the win in Thailand, he’s had a tied-fourth-place finish at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, earlier this month, plus two top-20 finishes in January at the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship (20th) and the Hero Dubai Desert Classic (16th).

Olesen stayed cool wearing the new floral print Murphy shirt in Navy/Orange, Navy Noah trousers and a matching navy Wave belt. The shirt and trousers are part of Galvin Green's VENTIL8™ PLUS range, offering lightweight, stretchy, breathable garments that are quick dry and offer UV 20+ protection — ideal for hot weather.
