GALVIN GREEN TOPS WATERPROOFS POLL FOR 4th YEAR IN A ROW

January 2012

- Readers of top-selling magazine rate it best clothing brand of 2011 -

Galvin Green has been voted as the leading brand of waterproofs for the fourth consecutive year by readers of Today’s Golfer, the UK’s biggest-selling golf consumer magazine.

Regular golfers amongst the publication’s 265,000 readership placed Galvin Green ahead of rivals ProQuip and Sunderland as the Best Waterproofs brand when voting for the magazine’s annual awards for 2011.

The readers also voted Galvin Green the Best Apparel brand for 2011, ahead of Nike and Under Armour. This is the third time in the last four years that Galvin Green has also won this prestigious clothing category in the magazine’s awards.

“Our readers are discerning about what they wear on the golf course and Galvin Green is clearly the brand that they most identify with and choose to buy to play golf year-round,” said editor Andy Calton.

A recent independent survey* among 1,300 regular golfers revealed that Galvin Green now accounts for more than 30% of the UK market for golf rainwear and is seen as the most desired clothing brand across all garment categories.

“To be recognised by the readers of Today’s Golfer as a double winner in both the waterproof and apparel categories once again is very pleasing,” said Mike Johnson-Hill, Managing Director of Galvin Green UK. “It means that they appreciate the value for money that the garments represent for golfers who want to perform well in all conditions, as well as the style and feel good factor that Galvin Green always delivers.”

The 2012 range from Galvin Green includes more than 300 new lines of jackets, trousers, pullovers, polo shirts, compression garments and accessories. The full collection can be viewed here.

SPRING/SUMMER COLLECTION 2012

January 2012

The best mid-season collection yetCOLOURFUL INNOVATIONS IN GALVIN GREEN’S MULTI-LAYER CONCEPT

Galvin Green retains the initiative as the leading manufacturer of functional golf wear. The 2012 Spring/Summer Collection combines advanced materials and innovative design in a holistic approach that takes the “Multi-Layer Concept” to an entirely new level. The focus is on optimising the way in which the various layers work together to provide the highest quality protection and performance. Function, comfort and mix-and-match options are more developed than ever before.

In Galvin Green’s advanced Limited Edition series we are introducing 4-way stretch technology to our WINDSTOPPER® jacket BOW and GORE-TEX® Performance Shell jacket ARCH. The new stretch fabric improves the garment’s flexibility and comfort while retaining the same breathability and high-performance windproof and waterproof properties.

The Limited Edition series also sees the launch of innovative body mapping technology in our INSULA™ range. DUSTIN is a warming pullover using different types of INSULA™ material in different parts of the garment. Enhanced breathability combines with high material durability to effectively protect exposed body areas.

Galvin Green’s Limited Edition series is also offering for the first time a VENTIL8™ short sleeve shirt. MILLS is manufactured using an advanced Jacquard technique which incorporates various ventilation zones into the material. The advantage of this technique is that the same material can be used in the entire garment, making it soft and supple throughout. Breathability is adjusted by varying the structure and denseness of the weave.

The comfort and versatility of a WINDSTOPPER® garment makes it virtually indispensable for any golfer. Completely windproof, yet with extremely high breathability, it provides the optimum outer layer in most weather conditions. BURNS is a new men’s half zip jacket in a soft, sensitive, light-weight WINDSTOPPER® material, available in several stylish colour combinations. For ladies we are introducing the pullover BEYLA, also in comfortable, light-weight WINDSTOPPER® material. This half zip style has been reintroduced in response to demand. Optimum comfort in four different colour combinations.

Galvin Green’s Multi-Layer Concept features as strongly in the Ladies’ Collection as in the Men’s Collection, fulfilling the same demanding requirements for optimum function and comfort. Demand for Galvin Green golf wear continues to soar and is boosting growth of the Ladies’ Collection in all areas, with the introduction of new base layer garments in the Compression Technology series. Our Compression 20 base layers ELLA (long sleeve top) and ERIN (leggings) have excellent breathability and moisture-
transportation properties. Compression Technology stimulates the blood flow and reduces lactic acid build-up in the muscles, which helps boost endurance.

Our waterproof trousers AUGUST (men) and ANNIE (ladies) in ultra-light GORE-TEX® Paclite® Shell are already classics. To enable greater opportunity for mixing and matching our popular waterproofs with the rest of the collection, AUGUST is now available in Black, Indigo and Flame, while ANNIE comes in Black, White and Indigo.

Coordinated colour lines make it easy to mix and match garments from the entire collection. Fashion shades like Curacao, Flame, Wild Rose and Indigo are guaranteed to put the collection, and its wearers, in the sporting spotlight. With its expanded range of accessories, Galvin Green’s 2012 Spring/Summer Collection is the most complete to date.

Emerging Golf Company of the Year

December 2011

Galvin Green is the winner of the Canadian ScoreGolf award "Emerging Golf Company of the Year" 2011.

Rick Young at ScoreGolf explains why Galvin Green comes out ahead of all the competition: "Few companies have come up on the industry radar faster or with more proficiency than Galvin Green. A staple brand in Europe, the Swedish outerwear company has utilized proven fabrication platforms GoreTex and Windstopper, combining them into garments loaded with all-weather functionality and fashion forwardness. To compliment its jackets, tops and bottoms, Galvin Green has also done a credible job pushing its Multi-Layer concept while making tour validation in Europe and in North America (Peter Hanson) a top priority. Galvin Green – Supplier of the Year for the fifth time

OCtober 2011

For the fifth time, Galvin Green has been voted top supplier by Sweden’s sports and golf stores. This testifies to long-term, highquality workmanship that no other golf company comes close to matching.

The result shows that Galvin Green is an allround supplier. In no fewer than five categories out of seven, Galvin Green is among the top three. And in service, sales promotion and quality, Galvin Green took top place. That Galvin Green has scored top marks for its quality work is particularly pleasing, explains Christian Nilsson, CEO of Galvin Green. “We truly strive to live up to our slogan to never compromise, and this applies as much to our choice of materials as to the way we work with our retail dealers. In everything we do, we aim to be the leader and not an alternative,” says Christian Nilsson to Golf Business magazine, which conducted the survey.

“To be named Supplier of the Year Golf means a great deal to Galvin Green. It proves that the retail sector has faith in our products and the way in which we work,” adds Christian Nilsson. “Supplier of the Year Golf” is a survey conducted by Golf Business magazine (part of Sportfack).

Slattery debut win puts Galvin Green out in front

OCtober 2011

Foto: Gettyimages

Lee Slattery, ‘the face’ of Galvin Green’s advertising campaigns since 2008, left five members of last years’ winning Ryder Cup team trailing in his wake yesterday as he captured his first European Tour title at the Bankia Madrid Masters.

The 33-year-old Englishman from Southport attacked the pins on the back nine at the challenging El Encin course and, despite a double-bogey on the last, won by a shot with an amazing total of 15-under par.

As he lifted his first trophy in seven years, he then praised the leading golf clothing brand for its support when he struggled with his game and had to graduate from the Challenge Tour last year. “I did some modeling for Galvin Green and I actually got more exposure out of that than from any sponsor I’ve ever had, so they’ve been fantastic,” he said.

Wearing a stylish combination of a white Ventil8™ shirt and white slacks, matched with a black Barrow WINDSTOPPER® – ideal for playing in sunny, windy conditions – Slattery held his nerve to sink a short putt on the 18th to secure the biggest win of his career, move up 168 places in the world rankings to 160 and take the €166,660 first prize. He finished six shots ahead of fellow Team Galvin Green players Peter Hanson and Oscar Floren, with both Swedes tied for sixth spot at 9-under par.

“I was so relaxed on the back nine, but I’ve never shaken so much in my life as I did over that final two-foot putt, because that is a lifechanging putt,” said Lee. “This win is huge for me. It’s given me the belief that I’m good enough to win on the Tour,” he added.

Commenting on Slattery’s victory in the Spanish capital, Christian Nilsson, CEO of Galvin Green, said: “We are all delighted for Lee, who epitomizes the golfer we are looking to help perform at their best with our pioneering multilayer garments – from Compression base layer to GORE-TEX® rainwear of the highest quality.

“Lee has been prominent in our press advertising campaigns across Europe and Scandinavia during the last three years, so a lot of golfers will be familiar with his face and the fact that he enjoys playing golf whatever the weather conditions. He also features in our new 2012 catalogue and will be even more highprofile in the future,” he added.

HAT-TRICK OF WATERPROOF AWARDS FOR GALVIN GREEN

February 2011

Market-leading brand voted golfers’ favourite for third year running

Galvin Green, market leader in high-performance rainwear for golfers, has been voted as ‘Best Waterproof Brand’ by readers of the UK’s top-selling golf magazine for the third year in a row.

The brand, which incorporates the consistent GORE-TEX® fabric in its entire range of waterproof jackets and trousers, gained a massive 44% share of reader’s votes for the 2010 Today’s Golfer awards in a competitive category that included rivals such as ProQuip, Sunderland and Nike. This follows a similar voting pattern in 2008 and 2009.

“There’s no doubting the quality of Galvin Green apparel and their extensive waterproof range is simply sensational,” reported senior equipment editor, Jon Greathead. “It (Galvin Green suit) will last you for five years, maybe more, and in that time you will be incredibly dry and have no restrictions on your swing.”

Commenting on the hat-trick of awards, Mike Johnson Hill, Managing Director of Galvin Green UK, said: “Gaining a third award in succession highlights just how popular Galvin Green waterproof suits have become among serious golfers. It’s yet another major achievement for the brand and we would like to thank all the readers of Today’s Golfer magazine who voted for Galvin Green once again.”

Oscar FlorÉn gets his breakthrough
– Secures European Tour card

AUGUST 2010

Oscar Florén, Team Galvin Green, secured his spot on the European Tour after a dramatic win on the SWALEC Wales Challenge. It was Floréns first victory as a professional player – an eagerly awaited breakthrough.

Florén played focused on the first 36 holes and had a comfortable four shot advantage when he began the last day. With a round of 71 in the morning Florén embarked on his fourth and final round with a one shot lead over his compatriot Joel Sjöholm.

The advantage rapidly disapperad as Oscar double bogeyed the first hole and then suffered the same fate at the fourth. Florén drew on all his reserves of energy and strength to birdie the tough 17th hole and finished just one shot clear of the fast-finishing Raymond Russell, Scotland.

"It was a hard win and I feel very relieved. Fortunately I could keep my head cool after the bad start in the last round", said the happy Swede. The win means Oscar Florén collects the €24,000 winner’s cheque and secures his European Tour card.

Peter Hanson wins Czech Open
– Enters top nine and Ryder Cup

AUGUST 2010

Peter Hanson, Team Galvin Green, won a play-off to win Czech Open – his third European play-off win out of three.

Hanson shot a birdie on the second play-off hole to beat Gary Boyd and Peter Lawrie to the first prize. With the 18 feet birdie putt he also secured his spot in Captain Colin Montgomerie's European Ryder Cup Team.

"I'm walking on clouds", said the happy Swede. "To make that putt feels fantastic".

The win also means Peter Hanson walks away with the €333,330 (£272,800) first prize. Congratulations!

BjÖrn Åkesson gets his first win

AUGUST 2010

Team Galvin Green player Björn Åkesson, 21, from Barsebäck, Sweden, achieved his first win as a professional recently on the Nordea Tour, the professional tour in the Nordic countries. In the premiére edition of ‘Gefle Open hosted by Peter Hedblom’, the promising young Swede scored an impressive total of 15 under par, four shots ahead of the field, having opened with a new course record 63. “My goal is to finish in the top five on the Nordea Tour and then get to play the Challenge Tour next year,” says Björn.

Galvin Green wish him the best of luck.

LEE SLATTERY GIVES GALVIN ANOTHER VICTORY

June 2010

Lee Slattery became the second Team Galvin Green player to record a Tour victory in two weeks when he led from start to finish at the Challenge Tour’s Telenet Trophy event in Belgium (27-30 May).

In doing so, he followed smartly in the footsteps of Sweden’s Peter Hanson, who captured the European Tour’s Mallorca Open title after a play-off on 16 May.

In wet and windy conditions at the Rinkven Golf Club near Antwertp, the 31-year-old Englishman completed his fourth sub-70 round to win his first title in six years by four shots with a total score of 21 under par – the lowest on the Challenge Tour so far this season.

“This means so much,” said Lee after his convincing victory. “I led after every round and today I felt so comfortable out there.”

The last time he won a tournament was the Telia Grand Prix event in 2004, the year he finished top of the Challenge Tour rankings. Since then he has played on the main European Tour between 2005 and 2009 and been the prominent face of Galvin Green in its advertising and promotion campaigns in recent years.

Other Team Galvin Green players to perform well in Belgium over the weekend were Swedes Klas Eriksson (11th) and Oscar Floren (16th).

“It’s really encouraging to see how well our Team members have performed in such a wide variety of weather conditions across Europe in recent weeks,” said CEO Christian Nilsson. “The feedback we get from them suggests that the clothing is playing a major part in how comfortable they feel, especially towards the end of the tournament when maintaining a strong performance is so important,” he added.

AT THE DOUBLE

May 2010

Team Galvin Green Tour players came to the fore this Spring.

Peter Hanson moved a step closer to the world’s top 50 and a place in Europe’s Ryder Cup team with an impressive win at the Majorca Open in May. He overcame a one-shot penalty for a double hit when chipping from the edge of the 12th green during the final round to reach a play-off after being two behind with four to play.

The Swede then won his third European Tour title on the first extra hole and said: “It feels absolutely fantastic after all that happened there.”

Earlier, Welshman Jamie Donaldson was in contention at the Volvo China Open in April - at one point sharing the lead with eventual winner and US PGA champion Y.E. Yang.

Jamie is enjoying one of his best starts to a season, finishing in the top ten in four consecutive events.

The best mid-season collection yet

April 2010

The best mid-season collection yetAt Galvin Green product development is an ever-present feature. As usual in the middle of the season, Galvin Green is presenting a host of exciting innovations. This time the Inseason 2010 collection comes together with some carefully selected key items from the main 2010 collection.

In the Skintight™ range Galvin Green is introducing a new material. The Skintight™ Compression Technology range now features two variants – Compression 10 and Compression 20. Both ranges offer the exact same high-performance compression technology properties, but Compression 10 is specially developed for cold weather conditions. High-tech hollow fibres add a warming effect, making Compression 10 ideal for playing golf in temperatures below 10° C. Compression 20
features unique breathability and moisturetransportation properties, which makes it ideal for golf in temperatures below 20° C.

Another great innovation for playing golf in cold weather conditions are the new WINDSTOPPER™ golf gloves, WIND. The palms are made from synthetic all-weather material and the backs from soft and warm WINDSTOPPER™ fabric, while soft elastic cuffs protect the wrists.

Galvin Green’s new range of high-performance golf shirts, VENTIL8™, features peerless breathability and unique moisture-transportation properties. Permanent freshness is guaranteed by built-in antibacterial technology that remains effective throughout the garments’ lifetimes. One new innovation in the VENTIL8™ range is MANNIX, a lightweight and flexible golf shirt that provides exceptional ventilation. As in Galvin Green’s main 2010 collection, there are some great innovations in the Ladies’ Inseason collection as well. The popular waterproof ALVA trousers in GORE-TEX®Performance Shell fabric now come in a staggering 20 different lengths. Now everyone is guaranteed to find their favourites. AISHA is a waterproof jacket in GORE-TEX®Performance Shell fabric. AISHA is extremely well-tailored with a feminine cut and decorative contrast-colour details. Adjustable cuffs, pre-shaped elbows for added comfort, two-way zips, an inner pocket and two front pockets are just some of the other well-designed details.

New, advanced materials, clever functions and cool design make Galvin Green’s InSeason 2010 collection the most interesting mid season collection yet. Designed by golfers, for golfers.

Emelie Lind – a shooting star on Team Galvin Green

april 2010

Emelie LindGalvin Green continues its focus on ladies’ golf – both in terms of exciting new products in the ladies’ collection, and new additions to Team Galvin Green. Emelie Lind, who has just come aboard the European Tour, is the newest female member of Team Galvin Green for the 2010 season.

It was her thrilling play-off performance that qualified Emelie for the European Tour 2010. A spectacular bunker stroke straight into the cup at the 8th (!) play-off hole led to victory at Landeryd Masters 2009, and a much-coveted place on the Ladies’ European Tour. “Winning such a tough competition was amazing. Now I’m looking forward to fresh, tough challenges on the European Tour.”

Emelie, who has been playing professionally since 2008, tells us about her expectations for the coming season. “Above all, I want to gain experience. I know that my game is good enough to take on many of the players on the European Tour. My short game is my biggest strength, I get good green hits and I’m working on becoming even better in this area.”

Emelie is very positive about her collaboration with Galvin Green. “I’ve always known that Galvin Green makes unbeatable rainwear. But, like many others, I’ve more recently discovered its brilliant ladies’ collection. Galvin Green makes lots of nice and functional ladieswear, which is really great. “Galvin Green is synonymous with quality. Its products are of a very high standard throughout,” feels Emelie, who is hoping to be able to offer some valuable input.

“My first priority is to play well, so that I can showcase the products in the best possible way. I also hope to be able to contribute a lot by offering feedback on how the garments are used and function out on the course.”

Louise Friberg – a colourful new addition to Team Galvin Green

FEBRUARY 2010

There’s plenty happening around the newest member of Team Galvin Green. Talented Swedish golfer Louise Friberg won a scholarship and moved to the USA to play golf and pursue a degree in Environmental Studies. Still living across the Atlantic, she has managed to both graduate and become an established player on the LPGA tour.

Louise Friberg is the first player on Team Galvin Green to play the US tour. She has already played on the LPGA for three seasons, and has a victory in the MasterCard Classic Honoring Alejo Peralta in 2008 to show for it.

Despite Galvin Green clothes not being available in the USA, the brand is familiar among golf players there, according to Louise. The company’s high-quality waterproofs are especially well known.

“I played a competition in a pair of white Galvin Green rain trousers. They caused such a stir that many of the other players were rushing to get a pair for themselves afterwards.”

Louise has been playing in Galvin Green waterproofs for a few seasons, and she is very pleased with their performance. Now she is looking forward to extending her collaboration with the brand.

“Galvin Green feels a little like a family. I hope we will be able to support each other and have a personal relationship. My job will of course primarily be to showcase the products in the best possible way. But I will also participate in product development by offering feedback on how the garments are used and function on the course.”

Louise is very interested in materials, function and design, and likes to collaborate closely with her sponsors.

“Professional golf exposes garments to extreme challenges. Galvin Green’s collection represents function and quality through and through. That is why this partnership suits me brilliantly.”

Galvin Green scoops reader awards for second year running

FEBRUARY 2010

Readers of the UK’s biggest-selling golf magazine have voted Galvin Green the best brand in waterproofs AND golf clothing for the second consecutive year – beating established global brands like adidas, Nike and Ashworth.

The March 2010 edition of Today’s Golfer, which boasts a monthly circulation of more than 72,000 and an estimated readership of 289,000, named Galvin as the readers’ No 1 choice in both apparel categories in the 2009 Reader Awards – the same outcome as in 2008.

Describing the results, Today’s Golfer stated: “Whether it be cold and rainy, cold and windy, warm and sunny or warm and windy, they’ve got the gear for you. And it’s this relentless commitment to excellence that pushed the brand to the top of the voting charts for 2009… When it comes to quality, Galvin Green are the clear winners.”

Mike Johnson-Hill, Managing Director of Galvin Green (UK), said: “To win these awards once is very satisfying, but to do so on more than one occasion is absolutely thrilling. We are delighted that our clothing range is viewed in the same light as our rainwear and everyday golfers are impressed with our continued innovation.”

The awards followed further accolades from National Club Golfer magazine, which named Galvin Green waterproofs as ‘Best on Test’ for the third consecutive year in its 2009 rainwear review.

Readers of Sweden’s most popular golf magazine, Svensk Golf, have voted Galvin Green “Golf fashion brand of the year”. With 18 per cent of votes, Galvin Green enjoys a comfortable lead over international trend brands such as Peak Performance, J. Lindeberg, Lyle & Scott and Puma.

Most people already know that Galvin Green is the market leader for high-quality, functional golf wear in Scandinavia and the UK. This latest accolade means that Galvin Green is now top of the rankings when it comes to golf fashion too, according the Svensk Golf’s readers.

“It feels great. It’s an amazing achievement for us,” says Christian Nilsson, CEO of Galvin Green. “We don’t really focus on fashion per se, but on designing high-performance, functional clothing. But naturally we’re influenced by fashion and trends. I think that our strength lies in the fact that we remain consistent and do our own thing. That way we don’t get carried away, but can select trends to work with within the framework of our own concept.

Next year’s collection will be just as exciting, promises Nilsson.

“We have plenty of news in the pipeline, are continuing to work with new materials, for example, our own Ventil8™ line. Next year we will also be taking our ladies’ collection a step further. We’ll stay on-trend, but without compromising on function – our hallmark.”
